We’ve added some photos and short biographies so that you have a little idea of who you are praying for or who is spending your money!


20151009 Ben_CE)-UK_basedBen Udejiofo, CEO – UK Based

Ben was born in a village called Achi, in Enugu State. He came to the UK at the age of 8 years and was brought up in North London. Ben studied Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Sheffield and worked as a Chartered Civil Engineer for nearly 20 years. He is married with 3 children and is a member of Wycliffe Independent Church in Sheffield.

Ben set up TASTE in September 1999 with the help of some friends. He served as a Trustee until May 2012 when he resigned to take up the role of Chief Executive Officer with overall responsibility for TASTE.

Tim Danchal, Team Co-ordinator

Tim is responsible for all our Nigeria operations. He oversees the staff and all our projects. He is responsible for developing and managing TASTE Nigeria. He liaises with our UK based CEO on almost daily basis.

Tim took over the running of TASTE Nigeria in 2011.

With a background in audit and banking and several years working and studying in the UK, Tim is ideally positioned to lead and support the Jos team.

Jos born and bred, since joining TASTE Tim has dicovered that many of his peers from his schooldays are in senior posts around the city; quite helpful when needing advice or seeking support!

In his spare time, Tim is developing a poultry farm and, when time permits, he enjoys getting away from everything with his camera.


Julie Faruk,  Geologist.20151009 Julie_Geologist

Julie is a Geologist who is directly employed by TASTE. She is office based, supporting Tim with daily administration duties. However, she also supports the Drilling Team with technical geological problems.

Julie joined TASTE in 2010

A graduate of the University of Jos, Julie joined TASTE first as a volunteer. After proving her worth, she became our full-time geologist in September 2011.

Julie has a wide role – she liases with our survey team; works on site with our drilling time and also talks to clients who have concerns of a geological nature.


Doris Samuel, Community Development Officer20151009 Doris_Community Development Officer

Following the successful completion of Hydrogeophysical Survey, Doris Samuel our Community Development officer undertakes Water Sanitation & Hygiene workshop.

If there is a school in the community the workshop will be delivered to the pupils and staff and also members of the target community selected by the community.

Doris will also help the Community set up Water Sanitation & Hygiene Committee (WASHCOM). WASHCOM generally comprises 12 members both men and women chosen by the community.

The WASHCOM will ensure that the lessons delivered by Doris during the workshop is disseminated andadhered to by the community.

The WASHCOM will decide on any levy to apply for the upkeep of the borehole and will also choose a responsible respected member of the community to look after the borehole.

Doris is although experienced is relatively new to TASTE, joining us in 2014.


Dinatu Dami, Finance Officer20151009 Dinah_Finance Officer

Dinah as the Finance Officer is responsible for our Nigeria TASTE Bank Accounts. She is responsible for maintaining accurate records of our accounts and producing weekly accounts summaries.

Dinah joined TASTE Nigeria in 2013


20151009 Sunday_Drilling TeamSunday Dung, Drilling Team

Sunday is another long serving member of the staff serving in the Drilling Team since 2004

SUNDAY along with DAVOU form a double act. These labourers are our longest serving staff members and, over the years, have developed their skills beyond that of the average labourer.


20151009 Patrick_Drilling TeamPatrick Maren, Drilling Team

Patrick is currently seconded to the drilling team awaiting the arrival of our tanker from the UK. He used to take water to needy communities waiting for their borehole project using our former tanker prior to it being decommissioned. He will return to this task once our new tanker arrives from the UK towards the end of 2015.

The new tanker will be used, like our first tanker, to sell water to individuals who can afford to buy water in between free delivery to communities.

Patrick has worked for TASTE since 2005

Patrick has filled a number of posts within TASTE. Originally he was in charge of water distribution with our tanker; then he gravitated to office driver; more recently he assists the drilling team, and helps our pump technicians. Where would we be without Baba Patrick?


20151009 Nanpan_Drilling TeamNanpan Daspan, Drilling Team

Nanpan is responsible for the Drilling Team overseeing all borehole construction. He is responsibility for the our site staff and our equipment during site work.

Nanpan has been with TASTE since 2007

NANPAN joined us a driver but has been developing his drilling skills recently. He has responsibility for getting the landrover from A – B, usually towing something heavy.

Davo has been with the Drilling Team since 2004 and is one of our longest serving members of staff.

20151009 Jonathan_Pump Technician

Jonathan Makan, Pump Technician

Following the drilling work Jonathan, our Pump Technician goes in and installs the pump. He also teaches the person in the community charged with looking after the borehole how to assemble and dismantle the pump – handpump.

Jonathan joined TASTE in 2010.

Jonathan and Yohanna are the dynamic duo who step in once the drilling team have finished a borehole. Theirs is the task to work alongside the local masons to construct a platform and install the pump. Mostly we use India MkIII hand pumps but we will use submersible pumps when the depth gets around 50 metres.

Jon and Yonni will also go and help communities when a hand pump needs servicing. Our ambition is to ensure that each community where we work is equipped with the skills to maintain their own pump but, where these skills are lacking, Jon and Yonni come to the rescue.
