Running a half marathon for TASTE
Here’s Peter Akril who completed the IAAF Cardiff World Half Marathon 2016, raising £1081.53 so far for TASTE. He set himself the target of beating his record of 1hr 53mins set when he was 15 years old. Now 30 years later he finished the race in 1hr 35mins only about 35 minutes behind the World Champion Mo Farah. Very Well Done Peter!
It’s still not too late to show your support for Peter via his JustGiving page www.justgiving.com/Peter-
Project Updates in Nigeria
TASTE Drilling Team is currently working at Dalo Memorial High School on the States of Guernsey funded project to provide the 800 strong school community with 4 boreholes and 10 latrines. They have completed the drilling of the boreholes and have successfully carried out the pump testing stage and installation of some of the pumps. They are now gearing up, to the construction of the latrines. The construction works were proceeded by an enthusiastically welcomed but very important Water Sanitation and Hygiene Workshop, delivered by our Community Development Officer.
Help our lorry reach Nigeria
We are grateful for the donation of a lorry by Lawsons, a Building Materials Supplier based in and around London; our previous lorry, Fudge, had broken down after ten years of service. Emmanuel Evangelical Church (Baptist) Newport graciously paid for the tank. The vehicle is parked at a farm near Dorking – a mere 50 miles from Tilbury Docks, from where it will carry out its journey to Nigeria.
We still need £4,000 before it can become fully operational in Nigeria for TASTE.
UK updates – 2015
These pictures show our CEO Ben Udejiofo at the Nigeria High Commission, where he met
with the Nigerian High Commissioner and his senior staff to tell them about TASTE and to see whether they can help us reach more Nigerian in the UK.
